How should I care for my jewelry?
Special care should be taken with handcrafted jewelry. Body oils tend to delay tarnish so the best thing for your new jewelry piece is to wear it often! Make sure to put your jewelry on after applying make-up, body lotion, hairspray and perfume. Always remove jewelry before going in the bath tub, showering, exercising or before doing house or yard work. To clean tarnish off of your jewelry please use a soft polishing cloth. Do not dip your handcrafted jewelry into jewelry cleaners as they can ruin the finish of your jewelry piece or damage the stones used. Do not used toothpaste to clean your jewelry as is abrasive and can scuff your piece.
How do I store my jewelry?
The best thing for your handcrafted jewelry is to keep it away from moisture and air. Do not store your jewelry close to or in the bathroom, I think it is best to store your jewelry in air tight plastic bags, or in soft cloth pouches. Pearls should never be stored in plastic, take care to make sure you store those in either a cotton filled box or in a soft cloth pouch. Store your jewelry flat so that your wire do not tangle together or stretch under the weight of the beads used on your piece. Remember, Silver will eventually tarnish but a quick wipe with a polishing cloth will make your piece shine again. Polishing cloths can be found at your local jeweler.
Where are you based?
I am based in Brooks, Alberta, Canada
If I'm in the area can I stop by your studio?
By all means do, I'd love to see you. Please call ahead or e-mail me for an appointment time.
What happens if my piece is in need of repair?
On occasion a handcrafted jewelry item can break. All handcrafted jewelry may need to be re-strung after a few years of use. If your new jewelry item breaks within 14 days of receipt please ship it back to me with all of the pieces that you can find. Before doing this contact me so that I will know when it will be arriving. Shipping items back to me without my knowledge isn't a good idea as I won't know to be expecting them and they could get lost in the post. If your piece has significant bead loss or is missing special beads or findings on your piece, I cannot guarantee that I will be able to use the original beads, components or findings. I will do my best to re-design your piece to it's original design using alternate components, beads and findings. Any breakage after 14 days I can fix for you at a charge. Please contact me for information. I take care to make all of my handcrafted jewelry as durable as possible. Please take care of your jewelry as it is not indestructible.
What is your return policy?
I would like for you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase. If you are not happy with your purchase contact me and I will arrange for a refund or exchange as long as I receive the original piece in exactly the way it was shipped out originally to you. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the returned item's back to me, you will not be reimbursed that money. In the event of an exchange I will re-ship the new jewelry at a cost to me. Jewelry by Michaela is not responsible for lost or damaged items.
Can I order a duplicate of a piece that I've seen in your store?
No, all of my pieces are guaranteed to be 100% unique. I can however make a similar piece if you like a certain style. |
